The table that holds the information for every cache log (1.6 million records big) crashed and wouldn’t allow any new entries, which explains all the “Divide by zero” errors. (Records for new uploads weren’t saved, so when the calculations tried to do a caching rate calculation that involved dividing by the zero caches that were processed, it tripped over the math.)
I restored from a backup version, so some data was lost, but I tested a few uploads and everything seems to be working again.

Just ran my stats for the query with our 1000th find. All is good. Thanks for your hard work.
OK, everything working…as long as that includes the problem of bad cache IDs.
I uploaded my previous PQ, one cache listed as needing calculation:
SH ~ Miami Valley Memorial Gardens
The URL shows as: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=N3C
The correct cache ID is GCQN3C.
beejay, could you please email me the PQ you uploaded? Thanks!
OK, e-mailed just now. I have a new PQ to upload but I’ll hold off for a while in case you need to see something about my current status.
So glad to have you back! I have been going through County Map withdrawals!
Uploaded my new PQ and everything looks good except one cache that always showed correctly before in Park County, Montana now shows uncalculated for Wisconsin. The cache is GCMM89 (”G” marks the spot)
This cache does not seem to be coloring in the county that it should be. It should be very nuch within Bee county, TX. GC1D2MA.
I’m also getting some bad GC numbers in my uploads, if you’d like a copy of my PQ as well..
hopefully not to just exclude those caches…
Bravo!!! Glad to have the county maps back.
Once we get the Top 10, I’ll be as happy as a pig in mud!
Thanks for all your hard work!
I seem to be running into the table issue as I’m getting the “Division by zero” errors.
Everything is working for me. I have ran into a problems uploading PQs before. If it is loaded from Firefox it has problems but if I use IE everything works just fine.
By the way, the cache I mentioned in post #2…when it finally recalculated the county, it got it right (Warren County in Ohio) even though the link is still to a non-existent cache.
Whoo hoo! All is back up and running.
Hi - just uploaded my PQ for the finds and it’s showing 212. The correct number is 213
Well, my Portugal find is now gone, as it should be. However, my count is still off, I have 640 and it shows 636.
If it helps, the missing ones are the last 4 caches I found: GC1DD5B, GCZF78, GCZV7V, and GC11TRY
@mike-n-crystal
Does the PQ you’re uploading contain the four missing caches, or were those found after you generated the PQ? If they’re in there, please send it to me and I’ll investigate.
Okay, it just took a re-load or two of my stats to get them working. Previously they had been missing the 9 caches I’ve found since June 6th.
I just uploaded my PQ from this past weekend, I have 517, and it only shows me having 497. It totally missed my last two days caching (this past weekend Sat & Sun). I also checked and all the caches are in my PQ.
Well…sorry for the false alarm…well sorta…I uploaded my PQ a second time, and it loaded the PQ correctly. how wierd.
Dave, emailed you the PQ. FYI, like earlier posts, a second upload of the same PQ resulted in a correct total (640). However, I have noticed some incorrect numbers on the stats page. For example, the numbers in the “Countries” listing doesn’t add up to the total caches (639), nor does the total if you add up the individual caches per state (628).
mike-
You inspired me to check my numbers. I have 2279 finds. The US (my only country) shows 2275. This is due to moving caches that aren’t included in location totals. My county totals are 2274. This is because one cache is in an error status…county can’t be calculated because the state is wrong.
So at least for me everything looks OK.
Is anyone suffering from the old “cache in the wrong county” error or has that gone away?
Im missing about 1000 caches on our count, mostly michigan caches
@sweetlife
1000 caches?! Could you please send me your PQ?
Scouts Track’em Down is still a few short, but 420 of 480 is still better than 2 of 480
Jon
I have a suggestion for the top ten lists (my favorite part). Perhaps you could run them once a day, rather than on demand? Data thats a few hours old would be just fine, I could wait a day to see impacts of my most recent upload.
First of all, thanks for all the hard work creating and working on this site. I appreciate it! Second of all, my numbers are off. Today I just logged 12 cache finds, putting us up to 664. (Glad I didn’t find 2 more yesterday.) I uploaded my pocket query and inatn.com is calling it 620 finds. I checked my query, and it lists me at 652 finds. Obviously, part of the problem is that geocaching.com didn’t quite catch up with itself. However, how do you account for the 32 that were on the query that didn’t make it to your site? Thanks for the help!
Looking good now. Thanks so much, whatever was done!
Just tried it and I still get the usual errors

I just tried it again with a new pocket query — worked this time! Must be some artifact of the earlier problems. Looking good now.
I take it back…it loaded stats, but it only shows 211 finds vice 228 that are supposed to be there. Looks like something is still outta whack
Uploads of 6/29 and 7/6 had the correct stats, maps, and county counts. It’s fixed for me. Thanks for taking care of this.
I jut registered here today. I tried uploading my zip file and I am getting the “division by zero” errors and such. I read the upload page and have had no luck. Any other suggestions?
Missing caches when uploading with FireFox 3, but worked fun with IE. Not sure if this means anything…
Uploaded a new query a couple of days ago, and realized that we were missing 25 caches from our totals, luckily our milestones was fixed as it was previously out of whack.
Nevermind my previous statement, I reloaded the same pocket query and somehow the totals came out right, strange
I have tried multiple uploads of PQ’s with no luck. I guess the glitch still exists.
I just hit 1000 and ran a PQ. Now, no matter what PQ I upload, ITATN hangs on to the PQ I uploaded last month (996 finds). I even went back a year and uploaded that but I’ve got 996 no matter what I upload.
I solved my own problem. I usually change the file name of my finds PQ to save the old versions. The renamed files have a date code built into the name. I dropped the date code and it worked fine. Sorry if I should have known that.
I’ve been having problems with my milestone listing… it stops at 2800 and doesn’t go any farther, although I have well over that in my latest PQ, which INATN does recognize.
I just uploaded my weekly “My Finds” and I get all sorts of “division by zero” etc. No stats at all, nothing, nada, zip.
OK, on someone’s suggestion (offline of this forum) I deleted the file and re-saved it (instead of replacing it). It generated stats, but they are 15 short (401 finds instead of 416). I have looked at the file in GSAK and it looks fine….
I’m getting something weird with my ITSNOTABOUTTHENUMBERS calculations.
Whereas INATN always provided the same number of finds as was in my current GC.COM calculation, now it’s stuck at 920. (Should be 927).
Any ideas on this ?
Any plans to add a category for “Whereigo” hybrid caches? I now have a cache that’s left over in my table.
The Cache Across America States dont seem to be right and are missing some of mine. They should up in the PQ in GSAK but not here. Washington and Tennessee should be lit up but they are not. Just curious.
I am also having problems with my Cache Across America states. For some reason, Colorado is lighting up for me even though I’ve never been there and Connecticut is not lighting up. My son also has the same problem with Colorado and Connecticut, so maybe there’s something odd going on with the mapping?
So can anyone tell me where to send the bribe, I mean request to have a cache put in the right county and to get Delaware CAA colored in? I’ve sent in the request a month ago but still have a cache that isn’t in the right state.
I had a problem the first time I loaded a PQ where it showed only 1 find when I had > 800. The second PQ a week or so later, got most of them. Then the next time, all of them. This worked for awhile, then I ran one today and uploaded it and go these:

The last time I did PQ upload to this site was 9/7/08. Did something happen since then?
Dave,
I’m not very computer literate, so I hope this gets to you and isn’t lost in cyberspace. I just wanted to let you know that a cache is wrong in your data base. The cache is coming up with an error when trying to do the county calculation. It has been wrong for several months now. I even tried to use the online tool to correct but it comes up with the wrong state, so I can’t select the proper county from the wrong list. I contacted the owner and he said that the cache was orignally going to be in Texas, which probably explains why your data base thinks that is where it is. The Cache is GC16QFY, Geocaching 101 - The Brethren and is located in Shelby county, Missouri. Thanks
2sherlocks must be working on the Missouri county challenge. GC16QFY is the cache that I requested be fixed well over a month ago. Maybe now that someone else has requested it be fixed Dave will get a few minutes to look into it. I was able to talk the cache owner into letting me log the county challenge after showing that I had indeed located a cache in Shelby county.
I just uploaded my finds after a vacation in Florida, and I have 2 caches in the wrong county:
GCH17PP, “Quiet Waters”, shows in Escambia Co. but is actually in Santa Rosa Co.
GC115YA, “George Trades Bucks with the Stars”, shows in Escambia but is actually in Santa Rosa
Actually, all of Gulf Breeze, FL, is in Santa Rosa County. The county line does a funny jog around the penninsula. This can be verified in Google Earth, the Florida Delorme Atlas and the Gulf Power map on the wall of my co-worker’s office.
I logged in today and was really happy to see that I don’t have any county errors anymore. So I excitedly looked at the US county map to see all of Missouri colored in. But Shelby county was still blank, then I noticed that Shelby county Texas was marked as found but I haven’t found any caches there.
I appreciate your work to fix GC16QFY, now can we get it in the correct state please. It belongs in Missouri.
Thanks again for all the work you put in this site. I hope you feel like I am just trying to help you instead of being a pest.
unfortunately I still get zilcho when I upload my finds pq; I officially give up trying to use this sight.

I also get GC16QFY as located in Shelby county TEXAS. As pointed out by Webscouter, it should be in Missouri. Webscouter guessed that I was doing the Missouri challenge. In fact I am on my on quest to find caches in 500 different counties. Currently at about 400 counties. Is there any chance as you keep tweeking the site that you could total all the counties? You havew them all listed it would seem a realitively simple matter to run a total on the list. But everything is always simple for those of us not doing the work. I currently run a separate spreadsheet to keep track of my counties. Thanks for all your hard work.
2sherlocks- Take a look at the HTML export option (”Where I’ve Cached”). I think it has the numbers you are looking for.
And if Dave is really fixing caches based on postings here, I have a few to add.
beejay - Thanks for the info about the HTML export option that sure works great!
2Sherlocks
Dear Santa,
I have been a very good boy this year. I gave the dirty man on the corner a dollar and I ate all my brussell sprouts.
I don’t want much for Christmas, all I want is for cache GC16QFY to be put back in Missouri where it belongs.
P.S. If you don’t have time to fix it can you get Elf Dave to hammer it back in place?
PPS. I’ll leave some gingerbread cookies for you by the fireplace or will buy Elf Dave a beer during Geowodstock in Tennessee this year.
I really mis the “Top Ten” feature on the site. It’s been temporarily disabled for I think 6 months now, maybe more. If you have an update on fixing that feature and getting it back up, that would be swell.
If it’s still a drain on the database, maybe you could have it just run once a week for the different options and then just having a static display rather than having it recalculate every time it’s run? You could even stagger the days each Top Ten calculation was done: X states on Monday, Y states on Tuesday, Z other countries on Wednesday, and so on…
Thanks for all your work!
OK, I guess I wasn’t as good as I thought I was this year.
I’m really missing including the UK map on my profile.
Everytime I upload my PQ zip I see an error msg “duplicate key 57758159″, at least I think that’s what it says as it quickly disappears and is replaced with the finds page.
It’s stuck at 266 for some reason, whilst I’m currently at 386 (and counting)
It’s a shame really as no one else does the UK map (and counties) better.
I’m seeing divide by zero errors right now.
Is the site working?
This is the first time I’ve tried it. But I’m simply uploading a query file that I received from geocaching.com. I think I’m doing everything properly.
Is there any chance the Top Ten list will ever return?
Figured out my “Division By Zero” problem.
The name of the file needs to be EXACTLY what the name of the file was when it was emailed by groundspeak.
My email program was appending a “-1″ to the file name because there was already a file by that name in my downloads folder.
Paul
Any update to getting the Top Ten feature back up?
(Yes, I’ve asked before. Yes, I emailed you about it. I never heard back, so at the risk of becoming annoying, I’m asking again.)
Hi! Great service. Thanks for all your work. Colouring my UK county map as best as possible is one of my 4 main aims with geocaching. I know the colours can get confusing if too many but was wondering if there was any chance of maybe adding new colours for when you reach 500 and 1,000 finds in a county. 500 certainly would be far more useful than the 1,000 one. With loads of caches in the UK, many people have gone past 200 finds in their home county and it would be good to have a further target to aim for.
OK for anyone else getting “divide by zero” erros when uploading using vista, try the following…
Right Click the .zip file and select properties.
On the section at the bottom it may say “this file is blocked as it has come form another computer. click here to unblock it”.
Click where indicated and then upload the file again.
Voila, no more divide by zero error…
I agree with Flapper_MK’s comment about coloring county maps. I’ve got 1300 in Cook County, Illinois, and I’m by no means a big finder.
But really, what you ought to be trying to bring back to this site are the various Top Ten lists…. I know they’re too expensive of server load to recalculate on the fly, but the one thing you can’t do with a GSAK macro is see that you’ve got more or better stats than that sucker across town. Howabout recalculating them once a week… or spread around the week on some sort of rotation?
Although you can omit computing the longest log…
I know you have a life outside of this site, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard from you. Are you planning on keeping this going?
Thanks,
SQ
Hey, I’m loving your latest maps for the product. Very cool. I do have a question though. I just generated my maps for Idaho, Oregon, Wyoming, and Utah. The first three allowed me to generate county names, but Utah doesn’t give me that option? What’s the difference? Is there a way that I can generate county names for Utah?
malandro95,
As I seem to recall and understand it, at first INATN did not do anything special with the counties. Then names started being added to the states with states whose users of INATN made financial contributions to support the site. Real life seems to have gotten in the way of the site’s developer and not much has happened her in a while, including putting county names on more state maps.
My apologies to anyone if I am incorrect.
SQ
@Semper Question
Been a while since I’ve been a pest.
Can we get cache GC16QFY moved to Missouri please?
Also since I have finished the Cache across America series I would like to request that the Tennessee cache, GC1AK40, be added the the list for the CAA maps.
Thanks again for the service you provide.
I’m getting the divide by zeros error…Is this site still operating?
rotation diet…
Your topic From Geek to Freak: How I Gained 34 lbs. of Muscle in 4 Weeks was interesting when I found it on Saturday searching for rotation diet…
